What is Chiropractic?
As defined by the Chiropractic Association of Australia (CAA), Chiropractic is a drug and surgery free modality of treatment concerned with the diagnosis, management and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system; this includes the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. It is based on the teachings of Galen and Hippocrates and the premise that the body can respond appropriately to its environment provided that the nervous system is free of interference.
What techniques do you use?
I personally use a combination of Diversified, SOT, Activator and Thompson techniques. My style is very low force and i also incorporate a lot of myofascial and tissue work into my treatments. I also incorporate the use an instrument called an Arthrostim for spinal adjustments.
My postgraduate training has included:
- Cranio-sacral therapy
- Musculoskeletal Acupuncture
- Neuro-emotional technique
- Nutritional and Environmental Medicine
- TBM Kinesiology
- MINDD Seminars
- Pregnancy and Paediatric care
How do you adjust babies and children?
A fear that many parents have is how their child will be adjusted, i like to reassure my clients there is absolutely no “cracking” or twisting involved in the chiropractic care of infants or children.
The CAA explains the chiropractic care of children as follows, “The typical chiropractic care of infants and young children involves the use of low-force low-amplitude techniques in contrast to those used on the adult population that typically involve more high velocity, low-amplitude thrust in combination with a variety of low-force low-amplitude treatment procedures”.
Can I get a health fund rebate?
I am a fully registered health care provider so assuming you have private cover for chiropractic care, a receipt can be provided for claiming.
